Baby Jingle Balls

These are my favorite felting things to make.  They are a small jingle bell needled felted into the center of a ball.  Then some cute animal,  boat, flower, stripe- some design felted to the outside.  My favorite part is coming up with the new somethings.  Here are a few of the latest...

For the Boys- a boat, a car and a dog

The Animals- a fish, a duck and a pig
They are a great unique baby shower present.  Just this or add a bib or some burp cloths and you are done.   For toddlers just learning to roam around a throw things they are great too.  They love the sound and that they can grab it.   And they can do too much damage with a nice soft ball.  Each one is approx 5 inches in diameter and still soft enough that small hands are able to grab.

There are also ones for the older kids-  didn't want them to feel left out.  This one is for my daughter-  she is a freshman in high school-   the front is her high school-  Conestoga-  and the back is the year she is going to graduate.  This way when she is mad at her brothers and wants to throw something at them- she has something that won't kill them-  or break anything.

Some of the jingle balls are currently listed in my etsy shop.  lilacroadhandmade-    More will be coming soon-  and if you are interested in something custom you can contact me thru there or at jdudrear@gmail.com.

Three more days of school left and then summer - we all can't wait around here.  Enjoy-  Jenne

A Finish -Finally

Flying Geese
I finally finished a project!!!  It has been too long since anything was completed.  This is a quilt for a special friend- for her long since past birthday.  And I can finally put it in the mail to her.  It came out just as hoped.  The size is smaller-  more of a lap quilt.  But good for throwing over your legs when it is chilly in California- or sitting on during a soccer or baseball game.

I used linen and Denyse Schmidt's Florence line.  The final dimensions are 44 x 38.  The quilting is all hand done with a pearle cotton - a coral color and white.  The binding is scrappy- with bits of all the fabrics used for the flying geese.

Here is an upclose of the hand quilting-

Happy Birthday Stef-  I hope you enjoy it.

Now just hoping for more finishes......................................

Baby Quilts

i love making baby quilts.  there is something about the hope that comes with a new baby that I feel even in making the quilt.  as i'm working in it i can't help but wonder- will they be shy and quiet or a baby that never sits down, will they look like one of their parents, or a mix of both.

pink and green chevron

my cousin and his wife had a second baby girl at the end of last year.  this one was for her.  for a little one chevron is great.  i used half square triangles to make this one.

the second baby quilt was one for a friend- for her niece.  her room is purple and green so she wanted to stay with those colors.  the pattern is a square in a square.   i used what some call the stack and whack method.  my friend wanted the babies name embroidered on the back.  i hadn't done any embroidery in a bit.  it was a lot of fun to refresh those skills.  these days with the internet there are so many fonts available to you it's hard to choose.

i keep hoping someone else will have a baby so I can make another -
